Salary: ZAR 380,000 - 445,000 / annual
Airbnb's Global Crisis Management (GCM) team is seeking a Disaster Response Coordinator to play a pivotal role in mitigating the impact of unexpected events affecting the company and its community. You will work within a dedicated team that prepares for, responds to, and manages crises with a focus on supporting all stakeholders.
In this role, you will monitor global incidents and threats, assess their severity and business impact, and coordinate swift company-wide responses. You will conduct proactive research to identify potential threats to Airbnb's community, use internal tools to communicate with stakeholders, and draft preparedness and response messaging for both internal and external audiences. You will serve as a point of contact for the GCM Disaster Response team, providing clear situation reports and critical updates to leadership and cross-functional partners.
You will collaborate effectively with teams across the organization, participate in product and process improvement initiatives, and help develop recommendations for operational enhancements. The role requires strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complexity while considering financial, brand, and customer satisfaction risks. You must maintain current knowledge of geopolitical developments and natural disaster activity globally, and understand how these events may affect Airbnb's operations and community.
The position operates on a Tuesday–Saturday, 8am–5pm GMT/BST schedule. You may be required to work company and national holidays and occasional unexpected hours as needed. Schedule expectations are subject to change based on team and job requirements. Occasional travel is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience in global disaster response, threat monitoring and assessment, intelligence analysis, or a related field
- Experience monitoring, assessing, and responding to global threats, disasters, and crises
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- High level of dependability to meet schedule expectations and work in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to travel occasionally as required
