Salary: USD 250,000 - 325,000 / annual
Midi Health is transforming healthcare for women in midlife through a virtual-first platform focused on perimenopause and menopause care. The company believes AI will fundamentally reshape care delivery by reducing administrative burden, improving clinical workflows, and giving providers better tools to focus on patient care.
You will lead the engineering teams behind Midi's clinician-facing tools, care delivery systems, clinical workflows, and AI-powered automation. This is a player-coach role at the intersection of AI, healthcare, and software engineering. You'll lead and develop a high-performing engineering team while staying hands-on with the technology—shaping architecture, reviewing code, experimenting with AI and agentic systems, and helping your team solve complex problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the engineering roadmap and execution for clinician-facing tools, care delivery systems, and AI-powered automation
- Identifying opportunities to use AI and agentic systems to automate workflows and augment clinicians
- Building and leading high-performing engineering teams with a culture of ownership, accountability, speed, and high technical standards
- Staying hands-on through architecture decisions, code reviews, prototyping, and AI-assisted development
- Partnering closely with Product, Clinical, Operations, and Data Science to translate care delivery problems into scalable technical solutions
- Driving engineering quality, velocity, reliability, and operational health
- Hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers and engineering leaders
- Collaborating with engineering leaders on architecture, technical strategy, and company-wide engineering priorities
- Helping define how Midi uses AI and modern development tools to rethink healthcare delivery
You'll be a senior engineering partner to Product, Clinical, Operations, Data Science, and other leaders across the organization, thinking beyond your immediate teams to shape how technology and AI can transform care delivery as Midi scales.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep software engineering foundation with meaningful time as a senior individual contributor building sophisticated applications and systems
- 5+ years of engineering management experience leading organizations of 10+ engineers
- Player-coach mindset: comfortable operating at leadership level while remaining technically credible and close to the work
- Applied AI experience: recently used AI coding agents or AI/LLM technologies to build something meaningful with practical understanding of capabilities and limitations
- Strong systems thinking: ability to take complex, multi-step human workflows and think creatively about how technology and AI can improve them
- Executive-level communication and judgment: can partner confidently with senior technical, clinical, and operational leaders
- Exceptional cross-functional instincts: naturally builds trust with stakeholders from different disciplines
- First-principles thinking: asks right questions, communicates clearly, aligns early
- Strong ownership mindset: closes loops, takes accountability for outcomes, steps into problems
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with AI/ML engineering, LLM-powered products, agentic systems, or workflow automation
- Experience building internal tools or software for complex operational users
- Experience with Python, Django, React, and AWS
- Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated environment
- Familiarity with EHRs such as Athenahealth, clinical workflows, or HIPAA-regulated systems
- Experience building AI products where accuracy, reliability, human oversight, and trust are critical
