Strava is seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement to build and lead the procurement function from the ground up. This is a foundational role where you will design the operating model, commercial strategy, and systems that govern how Strava purchases across all spend categories—primarily infrastructure and B2B SaaS, but extending to agencies and professional services.
You will report to the General Counsel and be responsible for standing up the function, including hiring and developing a Manager of Procurement Operations and shaping future team growth. Key responsibilities include owning a portfolio of Strava's largest agreements and personally negotiating major contracts, carrying a hard savings target validated by FP&A, establishing renewal calendar discipline, developing a negotiation playbook and benchmarking approach, and partnering cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, IT, and Security to streamline vendor review and contracting processes.
You will drive vendor rationalization across the spend portfolio, identifying overlaps and consolidation opportunities, and provide leadership with clear visibility into spend patterns, vendor relationships, and commercial outcomes. The role requires someone energized by building from scratch, with genuine commercial rigor and the judgment to hold positions under pressure while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Required qualifications include 10+ years building a procurement or strategic sourcing function, substantial experience negotiating enterprise B2B SaaS and technology agreements with demonstrated Finance-validated commercial improvement, people management experience, fluency translating spend data for executive audiences, exposure to public company or pre-IPO purchasing controls and audit requirements, and confidence using modern tools (Zip, Ironclad, Slack, Notion, AI).
Strava is a community platform for active people with over 200 million athletes globally. The company is backed by Sequoia Capital, TCV, Madrone Partners, and Jackson Square Ventures. The role is based in San Francisco with a flexible hybrid model requiring more than half time on-site (three days per week).
