Thea Energy is a fusion energy company leveraging stellarator physics breakthroughs to commercialize fusion power. The company has reinvented the stellarator architecture using computer-controlled planar coil arrays, eliminating the complexity of traditional modular magnets. As Director of Site Development, you will architect and lead the site selection, incentives, and development strategy for Thea Energy's first commercial fusion energy projects. Your responsibilities include: • Define technical and resource-based criteria for future project sites, ensuring alignment with operational and regulatory requirements • Lead negotiations for state and local incentive packages, maximizing financial and operational benefits • Navigate complex regulatory and permitting frameworks at federal, state, and local levels • Serve as primary liaison to government bodies, regulatory agencies, and local communities • Build foundational relationships and establish stakeholder trust critical to bringing commercial fusion online • Develop comprehensive site development strategy that balances technical feasibility, cost, timeline, and community acceptance You will operate with significant autonomy in a fast-paced environment, reporting directly to senior leadership. This is a foundational role that will shape Thea Energy's path to commercialization. Ideal candidates bring proven experience in capital-intensive infrastructure projects, deep-tech development, or large-scale energy projects. You excel in high-stakes negotiations, stakeholder management, and navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
