OpenGov is seeking a Director of Professional Services to lead a team of Project Managers and implementation experts responsible for deploying OpenGov's AI and ERP solutions to local and state governments across the U.S. The role owns delivery predictability and portfolio profitability across a defined product vertical, ensuring implementations are completed on time, on budget, and with high customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include leading a disciplined delivery organization against hard financial targets while shaping product direction to reduce implementation effort. The Director will manage P&L for portfolio profitability, including margin, utilization, and hours-over-budget performance. This includes resource planning, forecast accuracy for hours to complete and go-live dates, and participating in the sales process to ensure proper scoping and deliverability.
The role requires close partnership with Product Management and Engineering to translate implementation reality into product direction. The Director will serve as the delivery organization's primary voice into Engineering, converting implementation friction into prioritized product signals backed by delivery data. This includes participating in roadmap cycles, providing field validation for in-development features, and tracking the delivery impact of shipped product improvements.
Operationally, the Director will establish command and control of project delivery, identify early signs of project and customer risk, and devise risk response strategies. The role emphasizes working AI-first, applying AI tooling to scoping, configuration, testing, documentation, and status reporting. The Director will also lead ongoing enhancement of OpenGov's project delivery methodology.
Customer and executive engagement is critical. The Director will serve as executive sponsor on projects, travel to customer sites to solidify relationships, and build strong cross-functional relationships that hold up under pressure during escalations. Team leadership involves inspiring and developing a high-performing team, coaching for growth, and taking swift action on underperformance while sustaining trust and collaboration.
