Salary: USD 200,000 - 250,000 / annual
Via Transportation is seeking a Director of Product to lead the next generation of Remix, their premier transit planning and scheduling platform used by transit agencies worldwide. This is a high-ownership role where you will define and drive the vision for Remix as a multimodal planning system—enabling transit agencies to move from static schedules to data-driven, dynamically optimized operations across fixed route, paratransit, microtransit, and emerging modes.
You will own the end-to-end product experience from strategic planning through live execution, directly impacting how millions of riders experience public transit. Key responsibilities include:
• Define and own the product vision and roadmap for Remix as the global standard for multimodal transit planning and scheduling
• Build frameworks for data-driven scheduling that enable agencies to optimize driver and vehicle time through analysis of ridership patterns, operational constraints, and service goals
• Deeply understand and incorporate labor union rules, collective bargaining agreements, and workforce regulations into the product in a structured yet flexible way
• Connect planning and scheduling seamlessly to live operations, reducing gaps between scheduled and executed service
• Partner closely with engineering, design, data science, and go-to-market teams to move from vision to shipped product with clear milestones
• Engage directly with transit planners, schedulers, and operations leaders to surface unmet needs and validate product direction
• Stay current on industry trends, emerging regulations, and competitive dynamics
You will work in a complex enterprise software environment where the cost of getting product decisions wrong is high. Your work requires balancing labor union constraints with operational agility, and translating divergent customer needs into clean, scalable product decisions.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 10+ years of product management experience, including ownership of complex enterprise software products
• Track record of shipping high-quality products for sophisticated, workflow-heavy enterprise environments
• Systems thinker who can hold both strategic vision and operational detail
• Strong instincts for simplifying complexity and translating business rules into product decisions
• Deep empathy for end users (planners, schedulers, dispatchers) and ability to design with their working context in mind
• Ability to quickly become technically fluent in scheduling and operations data models (blocks, runs, trips, stops, vehicles, duties, pairings) and engage at that level with engineers
• Strong, credible voice in technical architecture decisions; capable of evaluating tradeoffs and advocating for platform choices that serve current needs and long-term scalability
• Experience with resource management, labor scheduling, or workforce optimization software is a strong plus
• Experience in transportation, transit, or logistics is a plus but not required; intellectual curiosity and ability to learn technical domains quickly matter more
