SmithRx is a venture-backed healthtech company disrupting the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) sector with a next-generation drug acquisition platform. The company has onboarded hundreds of thousands of members since 2016 and is seeking a strategic Director of Product Marketing to lead the overall go-to-market strategy, product positioning, and sales enablement efforts.
In this highly cross-functional leadership role, you will define how SmithRx communicates its value proposition to brokers, employers, consultants, and members, positioning the company as the clear alternative to legacy PBMs. You will be responsible for building, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing product marketing team, bringing complex new capabilities to market, and driving greater adoption of products and services. A critical focus will be navigating the narrative around Artificial Intelligence in healthcare—educating the market, building trust around AI-powered features, and demonstrating how these technologies improve outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Guiding category creation and positioning SmithRx as a radical departure from traditional PBMs
- Owning the overarching GTM strategy for the platform and new product features, coordinating cross-functional launches
- Developing and executing GTM strategies for AI-powered products with transparent, education-driven messaging that builds trust with stakeholders
- Hiring, leading, and developing a team of high-performing product marketers
- Establishing compelling, differentiated positioning and messaging for different audience segments
- Developing high-impact sales enablement programs (pitch decks, case studies, battlecards, solution handbooks)
- Setting measurable product marketing goals and monitoring GTM initiative progress
- Conducting primary and secondary research to understand buyer and end-user pain points
- Overseeing competitive intelligence and analysis
- Partnering with Growth and Brand Marketing teams on campaign narratives and co-marketing initiatives
You should demonstrate a strong track record of scaling PMM functions, driving category creation, translating complex and emerging technologies into compelling stories, and partnering closely with executive leadership. You must be comfortable operating in an unstructured, fast-paced environment and learning as you experiment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience in product marketing, with at least 4+ years in a leadership/management role building and scaling PMM teams for B2B or B2B2C technology companies
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business development, or similar (MBA preferred)
- Proven experience at a disruptive company that fundamentally changed the face of a category
- Experience bringing AI-powered products or features to market, with proven ability to craft narratives that build trust, demystify complex technology, and address skepticism in highly regulated industries
- Experience leveraging AI tools to scale marketing operations, content generation, and team efficiency
- Proven track record of successfully bringing complex new products to market and driving measurable revenue impact
- Exceptional cross-functional influence with ability to build deep, trusting relationships with Product Management, Sales leadership, and Executive teams
- Maturity and operational agility to succeed in a fast-moving, fluid environment and lead a team through rapid growth
- Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities with ability to track campaign performance, spend, and GTM effectiveness
- Experience in the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), health insurance, or digital health space is highly preferred
- San Francisco Bay Area, Salt Lake City, or Dallas based candidates preferred (though role is remote)
