Opto Investments is building an end-to-end platform to modernize private markets operations for wealth managers, investment advisors, multi-family offices, and private banks. The company combines engineering talent with investment expertise to replace manual, error-prone processes with scalable technology.
As Director of Private Markets Operations, you will lead the execution and ongoing management of Opto's private market offerings and drive the next phase of team growth. You will own operational workflows underpinning fund activity, investor onboarding, and capital events—ensuring accuracy, consistency, and high-quality client and investor experiences—while designing processes, systems, and controls that enable scaling.
This is a senior contributor role with a path into management, reporting to the Head of Private Market Operations. You will be a structured planner who brings order to complexity, runs work off plans rather than fire drills, and contributes across Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial teams. In the near term, you will execute the work; over time, you will provide direction and mentorship to the team and grow into managing within the Private Market Operations function.
Your responsibilities include: owning day-to-day execution of private market activity across funds and the full lifecycle from launch through wind-down; coordinating subscription, capital call, and distribution activity with administrators; managing subscription documentation, investor records, and compliance workflows; overseeing fund administrators, custodians, and third-party providers; leading operational workstreams for new fund launches and building repeatable operating models; reviewing investment and fund documents to translate terms into operational requirements; designing and evolving operating processes, SOPs, and service level agreements; setting standards for client and investor onboarding, implementation, and servicing; delivering post-trade confirmations and operational communications; leading enterprise client engagements for large RIA relationships; project-managing complex cross-functional initiatives end-to-end; partnering with Product and Engineering to design scalable workflows; managing vendor and provider projects; and providing training, guidance, and mentorship to analysts with growth into team management.
You are an ambitious, experienced operator with a "can-do" attitude. You break ambiguous problems into workstreams, sequence them, and keep stakeholders informed and aligned. You have a proven record of navigating unstructured operational processes while handling multiple workstreams and are ready to move from executing work to owning how work gets done.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in financial services or investment operations, with focus on private markets
- Deep, hands-on expertise across the private fund and investor lifecycle: onboarding, subscriptions, capital calls, distributions, and ongoing servicing
- Ability to interpret fund documents (LPAs, PPMs, subscription documents, side letters) and translate terms into operational workflows and controls; experience supporting new fund launches
- Strong project management skills—scope, plan, and drive complex cross-functional initiatives to completion with multiple stakeholders and hard deadlines
- Experience designing, documenting, and improving operational processes; working with fund administrators, custodians, and third-party providers; building things, not just running them
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail; deliverables consistently meet highest standards of quality and accuracy in deadline-driven environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication; keep stakeholders informed and navigate difficult conversations with clients, providers, and internal teams
- Inquisitive, investigative mindset; passion to dive deeper; self-motivated, high emotional intelligence, flexible, and resilient
- Demonstrated leadership potential: mentoring junior team members, leading cross-functional initiatives, or managing a small team
- College or university degree in business, finance, economics, or related field
BONUS SKILLS:
- Direct people-management experience
- Experience in a startup environment
- Wealth management experience at a broker/dealer or RIA
- Registered fund experience
