Persona is a configurable identity verification platform serving leading companies like Reddit and OpenAI. The company helps businesses verify individuals and organizations in a digital-first world, addressing sophisticated fraud and evolving regulatory requirements.
As Director of Strategic Procurement, you'll own Persona's highest-impact vendor relationships and contracts, reporting to the VP of Finance while sitting at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Finance. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on contracts that materially move the business needle—not a sprawling portfolio of small agreements.
You'll lead end-to-end negotiations for the company's largest infrastructure, product, and data partnerships. Key responsibilities include:
• Own procurement for Persona's most significant contracts (product technology, infrastructure, large-scale data partnerships)
• Lead commercial and legal negotiations to secure favorable pricing, SLAs, and risk protections on high-value, complex agreements
• Partner with Legal on contract review and vendor redline management
• Build and maintain internal vendor tracking systems across product and platform offerings
• Evaluate vendor pricing, performance, and consolidation/optimization opportunities
• Develop annual budgets for third-party spend and track actuals against forecasts
• Own the renewal calendar, ensuring proactive negotiations and stakeholder alignment
• Work directly with Product, Engineering, and Finance leadership to understand technical requirements and roadmap needs
• Lead vendor business reviews and serve as primary contact for vendors and senior stakeholders
You'll need 8+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or vendor management (ideally in technology, SaaS, or data-heavy environments), a track record closing high-value complex contracts, strong financial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and comfort operating at the executive level with technical stakeholders. Nice-to-haves include SaaS/data licensing experience, familiarity with privacy/compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC 2, DPA), and experience scaling procurement at fast-growing tech companies.
The role is based in San Francisco with hybrid flexibility (in-office Tuesday–Thursday, work-from-home Monday and Friday). Remote work is available for candidates outside the Bay Area.
