Firestorm is a Series A venture-backed defense technology company pioneering mission-adaptable aerial vehicles and innovative defense solutions. The Director of Security will lead the company's comprehensive security program, overseeing physical security, personnel security, cybersecurity coordination, insider threat mitigation, and crisis response in support of classified programs and government contracts. This role manages a team of security professionals and serves as the principal security advisor to executive leadership. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing enterprise-wide security strategy aligned with DoD and federal requirements; ensuring compliance with NISPOM, DCSA, and DFARS standards; overseeing facility clearance (FCL) and personnel security clearance processes; managing government security audits and investigations; implementing physical security programs including access control and surveillance systems; directing personnel security operations and the company's insider threat program; ensuring cybersecurity framework alignment (NIST SP 800-171, CMMC); leading incident response coordination; and developing crisis response and business continuity plans. The Director will also oversee end-to-end cybersecurity and IT programs for unclassified and controlled unclassified networks and systems, partner closely with business, engineering, and operations leadership to implement scalable security processes, manage departmental budgets and vendor relationships, establish metrics to measure program effectiveness, and lead security education and awareness programs. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Intelligence Studies, or related field; 10+ years of progressive security leadership experience in defense, aerospace, or government contracting; U.S. citizenship (required for ITAR compliance); ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance; experience as a Facility Security Officer; extensive knowledge of NISPOM, DoD security requirements, and federal compliance; strong risk management and incident response experience; and deep familiarity with NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, ISO 27001, ITAR, EAR, and classified information protocols. Preferred: 12+ years of progressive security leadership experience.
