The Director of Research Operations will lead Knit's research operations, programming, quality assurance, and fieldwork functions, overseeing a team of 10 people (2 direct reports based in India, with broader team oversight). This leadership role is responsible for optimizing the research operations workflow to deliver consistent, high-quality data. Key responsibilities include: leading programming, fieldwork, and QA teams to set and meet data collection SLAs; reducing time-to-final-N while maintaining industry-leading data quality; expanding audience reach and feasibility across sampling techniques; collaborating with product teams to build automation systems that eliminate manual processes; and driving people operations decisions including process mapping, organizational design, capacity management, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and performance management. The role requires deep expertise in market research operations, with 7+ years in the insights industry, ideally from a market research tech agency. The ideal candidate has built and scaled complex sampling operations across multiple research methodologies (quick-turn, quant, qual), demonstrated a track record of automation and process innovation, and led cross-functional initiatives from conception to implementation. Experience with survey programming tools (Qualtrics, Decipher, etc.) is essential. This is a strategic role that bridges operations, product, sales, and marketing to drive organizational capabilities and competitive advantage. Location is NYC preferred; if not based in NYC, travel to the office approximately once monthly is expected.
