Infinitum is revolutionizing motor technology with patented Aircore technology that delivers superior performance in half the weight and size while reducing carbon footprint compared to traditional motors. The Director of Purchasing provides strategic and operational leadership for Infinitum's global purchasing organization, accountable for purchasing execution, supplier performance, cost management, procurement controls, and development of a scalable purchasing team.
The role leads direct and indirect material purchasing across electronics, PCBAs, stators, magnets, custom magnetics, castings, machined and molded components, metals, fan-system components, MRO, tooling, and production requirements. The Director partners closely with Strategic Sourcing, Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Logistics, Import/Export, NPI, and GTM teams.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing purchasing operating strategy aligned with business plan and financial objectives; leading and scaling the Austin and Saltillo purchasing organization; recruiting, coaching, and developing purchasing managers and buyers; owning the end-to-end requisition-to-purchase-order process; directing purchasing execution for production materials, contract-manufactured products, MRO, equipment, and tooling; managing supplier commitments, acknowledgments, expedites, and recovery plans; leading critical shortage and supplier-recovery efforts; partnering with Planning on demand alignment and product launches; supporting continuity plans and risk buys for constrained materials.
Additional responsibilities include establishing supplier scorecards and operating reviews; leading negotiations on pricing, payment terms, lead times, MOQs, and supply agreements; partnering on category strategies and supplier selections; owning purchase-price variance and cost-reduction plans; challenging supplier price increases and leading cost-down initiatives; developing executive relationships with critical suppliers; establishing purchasing governance for contract manufacturing network; and supporting prototype procurement, first articles, component qualification, and production ramps.
The role reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain and requires approximately 20–30% travel to Saltillo, contract manufacturers, and suppliers in the U.S. and internationally.
