TENEX.AI is an AI-native, automation-first Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider backed by leading investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Crosspoint Capital Partners, Shield Capital, and others. The company is rapidly scaling and seeking a Director of Portfolio & Program Management to build and lead the operational function responsible for delivery excellence across the business. This is a builder role where you will stand up the team from scratch, define operating standards, and own how work gets planned, sequenced, and delivered across three core functions: customer onboarding project management (Rapid Deployment Team), professional services project management, and internal strategic program & portfolio management. You will serve as the connective tissue between commitments made and outcomes delivered, establishing the portfolio, program, and project management discipline that enables predictable scaling. You'll lead the project management of net-new customer onboarding, ensuring smooth and rapid deployment against milestone-gated frameworks while coordinating across engineering, detection, SOC, and customer success teams. You'll own professional services engagements—consulting and deployment projects—ensuring they are scoped, staffed, sequenced, and delivered on time, on budget, and to agreed outcomes. You'll also drive programmatic rigor for Tenex's strategic initiatives, establishing prioritization, dependency management, executive reporting, and delivery cadence. Key responsibilities include building and leading a team of project and program managers, defining best practices and standards, establishing intake and prioritization processes, owning delivery health and executive reporting, partnering with cross-functional leaders, and driving continuous improvement through KPIs and iteration. Success is measured by on-time/on-scope/on-budget delivery rates, time-to-value for customers, portfolio predictability, resource utilization accuracy, stakeholder satisfaction, and team health. Required qualifications: 5+ years direct experience, proven track record leading and building teams from the ground up, deep hands-on experience in project/program/portfolio management at all three levels, demonstrated ability to define and scale operational frameworks in growing organizations, strong cross-functional delivery track record, excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills, and execution-oriented mindset. Preferred: experience in services, SaaS, or managed-services delivery; familiarity with cybersecurity, MDR, or SOC operations; relevant certifications (PMP, PgMP, PfMP, SAFe); experience implementing PPM tooling and delivery instrumentation.
