As Director of Manufacturing, you will lead the manufacturing organization across multiple production sites. You'll manage a bench of plant managers, setting and enforcing production, quality, and safety standards across the fleet. Your responsibilities include owning plant logistics end-to-end—inbound materials, in-plant flow, and outbound shipping—ensuring schedules and costs never turn on supply gaps. You'll work cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain to keep every plant running as designed, catching operational gaps before they impact output.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage multiple plant managers across manufacturing sites, holding each to consistent production and quality bars
- Own plant logistics end-to-end: inbound materials, in-plant flow, outbound shipping
- Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain to maintain plant operations
- Set and monitor production targets across the fleet, identifying and fixing struggling sites before they slip the build calendar
- Build and develop the manufacturing organization, hiring and developing plant managers as new sites come online
- Communicate fleet-wide production issues clearly enough for executive decision-making
The role operates within a culture of autonomy ("be a barrel"), insane urgency, first-principles thinking, and focus on building something that matters. You'll have full ownership end-to-end, take on scope without asking, and operate at high intensity.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple plant managers or site leaders simultaneously, holding each to the same production and quality bar
- Proven ownership of plant logistics: inbound materials, in-plant flow, and outbound shipping (not just production line management)
- Cross-functional experience with manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and program teams across multiple plants
- Track record of identifying and fixing struggling sites before they slip build or shipment schedules
- Strong written communication skills; ability to distill fleet-wide production issues into executive-ready decisions
- Bonus qualifications: Multi-site manufacturing operations experience (semiconductor, EV, battery, or industrial equipment); supply chain and logistics network design; Lean or Six Sigma programs at scale; P&L ownership across multiple facilities
