Clutch is a venture-backed (A16z) vertical SaaS company providing white-label lending and account opening software to credit unions across the US. The platform serves 163 credit unions, processes sensitive financial data, and operates under strict compliance frameworks (SOC 2 Type II, GLBA, CCPA).
You will be the single owner of infrastructure, security, and IT operations, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering and partnering closely with the CEO, COO, and Legal. This is a high-autonomy leadership role where you define direction, build and scale the team, and execute independently.
You will lead a team spanning Infrastructure, Security, and IT Operations. Currently, the team includes an Infrastructure engineering manager and his engineers, Security individual contributors, and a small IT support team. The broader engineering organization comprises ~80 people across Brazil and the US, organized into five areas: Lending, Foundations, Security and IT, Account Opening, and cross-functional teams (HAL AI, Data).
Within 3 months: Complete a full audit of infrastructure, security posture, vendor accounts, and IT operations; take ownership of vendor relationships and account transfers; establish working relationships across engineering, Finance, Legal, and Customer Success; assess and strengthen incident response and cybersecurity monitoring (Datadog SIEM, Cloudflare).
Within 6 months: Drive vendor rationalization (30+ tools identified, $229K in immediate cuts, $1.2M under evaluation); implement compliance program improvements and own the next audit cycle; optimize AWS cloud infrastructure costs and performance; improve sandbox and environment management for customer implementations; define team structure and hiring plan.
Within 9 months: Build a fully staffed Infrastructure, Security & IT Operations organization with clear ownership; advance cloud security and data protection strategies (per-partner data segregation, AES-256, FIPS 140-2 Level 3); lead company-wide security awareness program; drive automation and tooling improvements; own and present infrastructure and security roadmap.
Required: 8+ years in infrastructure, security, and/or IT operations leadership (preferably B2B SaaS or fintech); proven team leadership in fast-paced environments; deep AWS knowledge (ECS Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL, IAM, KMS, S3, VPC) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Terragrunt); strong understanding of SOC 2 Type II, GLBA, CCPA, and ideally PCI DSS; vendor management and budget optimization experience; exceptional communication and stakeholder management; high-autonomy operator who delivers completed work.
Nice-to-have: Experience with Cloudflare, Datadog, Auth0; familiarity with credit union or financial services regulatory environment; IT support operations with SLA-driven workflows; Zero Trust architecture and IAM strategy; bilingual English/Portuguese.
