Voyager Technologies is seeking a Director of Environmental, Health & Safety to lead all EH&S and explosive/energetics safety programs across the company's manufacturing operations. Reporting to the EVP of Operations, this executive role provides strategic and operational leadership for a workforce engaged in complex electromechanical assembly, propulsion system integration, and handling of energetic materials.
Key responsibilities include establishing and scaling a zero-incident safety culture across multiple manufacturing sites; owning and maturing the company's Explosive Safety Program to ensure compliance with DoD 4145.26, ATF, and BATFE regulations; leading hazardous materials handling, storage, and emergency response programs for energetic materials, propellants, and specialty chemicals; and directing all environmental compliance programs for regulated chemicals.
The Director will partner with Manufacturing, Operations, and Engineering to embed EH&S requirements into production processes from design phase onward, ensuring safety enables rather than bottlenecks high-rate production. The role includes leading facility safety programs for explosive-rated facilities, serving as primary interface with DoD customers and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, ATF, state agencies), and building and developing a high-performing EH&S team across multiple sites.
Additional responsibilities encompass establishing enterprise EH&S metrics and KPIs; overseeing regulatory permit management (air quality, stormwater NPDES, hazardous waste, explosive licenses); directing emergency preparedness and response planning for high-consequence events; and ensuring compliance with ITAR and DoD security requirements as they intersect with EH&S operations.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or related technical discipline; 15+ years of progressive EH&S experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Director or above) at a defense, aerospace, or energetics manufacturing organization; demonstrated expertise in DoD explosive safety programs; and hands-on experience managing explosive safety programs for ordnance, rocket motors, propellants, or energetic material manufacturing.
