Multiverse is a high-growth EdTech platform delivering upskilling apprenticeships in AI, data, and tech skills to 1,500+ companies. Recently announced $70M in Series E funding at a $2.1bn valuation, making it Europe's first EdTech double unicorn. The company has 800+ employees and is scaling toward IPO. As Director of Enterprise Technology, you will own IT end-to-end across two connected remits: (1) day-to-day IT operations ensuring 1,000+ employees receive excellent support with seamless onboarding, moves, offboarding, and incident management; and (2) systems and platform implementations that prepare the business for IPO, including identity platform upgrades, endpoint security enhancements, automation, and technical controls for audit readiness. This is not a "keep the lights on" role separated from transformation work—you are accountable for both moving in lockstep. You will be the most senior IT voice in the business, setting strategy and running operations. You'll sit at the centre of a small, fully in-house IT function with full ownership of the IT budget, tooling strategy, and roadmap. You'll represent IT to the exec team, auditors, and the board as the company approaches IPO. In your first 6–12 months, you will: stabilize BAU service delivery with clear SLAs and team standards; ship at least one meaningful systems implementation (identity, ITSM, automation platform, or major integration) from scope to live rollout; establish how your team's time splits between BAU and project work; lead with AI and automation as the default way of working, identifying manual processes to eliminate; introduce or tighten documentation, change management, and incident processes for IPO-level scrutiny; and build real relationships with stakeholders to position IT Ops as a team that makes their work easier. The role requires an AI-native leader who sees automation and AI as the engine enabling a lean function to support a scaling business without just adding headcount. You'll work with a tech stack including Google Workspace, Okta, Entra ID, JumpCloud, FreshService, n8n, Zapier, Workato, Python, Bash, and ISO 27001 frameworks. Multiverse offers hybrid work (three days per week in office for most roles), 27 days holiday plus 5 additional days off, private medical insurance, life insurance, gym membership, mental health support via Spill, and a work-from-anywhere scheme (up to 10 days per year). REQUIREMENTS Essential: - 7+ years in IT operations or IT leadership, including 3+ years as the most senior IT person in a business or leading multiple IT teams/functions - Proven experience owning IT strategy and service delivery in a scaling organisation with a fully in-house team, including managing to SLAs and internal standards - Experience selecting, procuring, and managing software/tooling vendor relationships (contracts, budget, renewals) without an MSP - Track record of leading systems or platform implementations end-to-end (scoping, stakeholder management, testing, rollout, adoption) while running BAU in parallel - Strong automation mindset: built or directed workflows and automated processes that saved measurable time using scripting (Python/Bash) or platforms like n8n, Zapier, or Workato - Genuinely AI-native as a leader: use AI tools daily, distinguish between real agentic workflows and chatbot wrappers, set the tone for your team - See automation and AI as the engine enabling a lean team to punch above its weight—core to headcount planning, work prioritization, and strategic outcomes - Solid technical foundation: identity management (Okta, Entra ID, JumpCloud), endpoint management, SaaS administration (Google Workspace or equivalent), and how these connect to broader systems architecture and IT strategy - Comfortable owning trade-offs between "run the business" and "change the business" investment and making that case to the exec team - Excellent communication: calm under pressure, credible with end-users, vendors, auditors, and senior leadership - Process-minded with bias for documentation, change control, and continuous improvement - Full ownership experience: budget management, vendor/tooling negotiation, and direct people leadership Highly Desirable: - Experience in tech, edtech, or high-growth environments, ideally having led IT through a significant scaling milestone (funding round, M&A, IPO readiness) - Direct exposure to IPO or public-company readiness work: SOX, ITGCs, access reviews, audit evidence, or working with external auditors - Hands-on experience with modern identity platforms (Okta, Entra ID, JumpCloud)—Okta Workflows especially - Familiarity with modern IT tooling: FreshService (or similar ITSM), Google Workspace, endpoint security/EDR tooling - Understanding of security frameworks such as ISO 27001—what controls and evidence look like in practice, especially for IPO readiness - ITIL foundation or equivalent service management knowledge - Experience with incident management frameworks and tooling - Experience presenting IT performance, risk, or roadmap to an exec team or board
