Matterless Studios is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the design and development of highly complex applications, components, software platforms, and services. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee the entire engineering department and provide direction aligned with business objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the design and development of complex applications, components, software platforms, and services
- Oversee implementation of advanced data models, data marts, and data flows
- Establish technical standards, best practices, and guidelines for the engineering team
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the entire engineering department
- Manage all outsourced engineering activities and third-party providers, ensuring high-quality deliverables within budget
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive engineering roadmap aligned with business objectives
- Monitor progress, remove obstacles, and ensure timely delivery of roadmap initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, product, marketing) to meet desired outcomes
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, tool enhancements, and technological innovations
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive technical vision
- Establish and track KPIs to measure engineering team effectiveness
- Implement data-driven decision-making and continuously optimize processes and resource allocation
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, reliable, and scalable engineering solutions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Extensive game industry experience
- Proven experience working within cross-functional teams (engineering, product, marketing) with ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
- Strong experience managing, leading, and coaching software engineering teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
- Experience in a start-up environment or growth business highly preferred
