Crusoe is building vertically integrated AI infrastructure, owning the full stack from power generation to cloud services. The Director, Microgrid & Distributed Energy Strategy will lead end-to-end development of distributed energy and microgrid projects that power Crusoe's AI data centers at hyperscale. This is a full-stack development role spanning strategy, technical vetting, project incubation, and commercial execution. You will own projects from initial identification through energized, operating infrastructure—evaluating sites, designing resilient electrical solutions, managing regulatory compliance, and driving financial viability. You'll work directly with the Chief Strategy Officer in a high-intensity, high-trust environment. Key responsibilities include: - Conducting site feasibility analyses for microgrid and distributed energy projects - Creating technical designs optimizing solar PV, battery storage, and gas generation integration - Navigating local, state, and federal permitting and interconnection processes - Building financial models translating project economics into bankable investment decisions - Developing partnerships and negotiating with internal stakeholders, partners, and regulators - Driving the incubation engine from promising energy technologies to deployed infrastructure The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep experience designing and executing large-scale microgrid systems at hundreds-of-megawatts scale and above. You must have direct experience moving projects from technoeconomic concept through to energized operation. Elite skills required: technoeconomic modeling, complex engineering communication, stakeholder influence, commercial judgment, and microgrid design principles. Strong critical thinking, agency, bias toward action, and creative market thinking are essential. This role shapes how AI infrastructure is powered and leverages Crusoe's purchasing power to advance new energy solutions.
