Salary: USD 200,000 - 400,000 / annual
Formlabs is seeking a Director of Embedded Systems to lead the evolution of the firmware, electrical architecture, and integration layer that powers its precision 3D printing machines. This role owns the "nervous system" of Formlabs printers—the critical embedded and electrical systems that orchestrate optics, mechanics, and chemistry into reliable tools used by surgeons, engineers, and manufacturers worldwide.
You will scale a world-class cybernetics engineering team, leading embedded engineering, systems integration, and electrical engineering globally. Your responsibilities include shipping products loved by customers, driving embedded and electrical breakthroughs that enable printers to achieve what competitors think is impossible, creating a modular architecture (main boards, chipsets, peripherals) that scales across the entire ecosystem, and moving from concept to working prototype faster than anyone else in the industry.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll dive deep into technical details across engineering and physics domains while building and mentoring high-performance teams. You'll be customer-obsessed, focused on ensuring the company builds the right solutions, and impatient to ship great products quickly.

- Shipped complex electromechanical products to production in high-performance environments; understand the transition from prototype to 100,000+ units in the field
