ICON builds robotic systems for construction and recently commercially launched Titan, its multi-story robotic construction platform, after raising over $550 million. The Director, Customer Training & Enablement will build ICON's training program from the ground up, transforming a decade of construction technology knowledge into structured learning that takes new operators from zero to running large-scale 3D printing operations.
This is a comprehensive leadership role owning the entire training ecosystem end-to-end: curriculum and content development, hands-on training operations, and the platform that credentials operators and measures field performance. You will report to the Customer Success leader within Technology Operations and build a team beneath you.
Key responsibilities include defining training strategy and vision with clear success metrics; owning learning pathways and curriculum across hardware, software, materials, design, and operations; standing up and running a flagship training experience at ICON's Austin campus that blends classroom, hands-on printing, and simulation/VR methods; implementing a sophisticated training platform including LMS and credentialing; measuring operator field performance and feeding insights back into the program; shaping workforce strategy for operator recruitment and training pipelines; and building and scaling a team of trainers, coordinators, and instructional designers.
You will work cross-functionally across Product Engineering, Technology Operations, Titan Platform Sales, Customer Support, and Marketing to pull technical knowledge into a differentiated program that drives adoption, satisfaction, and renewal. This is a build-it role for someone with experience standing up complex programs in new or fast-moving domains, not a traditional corporate L&D specialist.
Minimum qualifications include 10+ years in customer training, education, or learning and development (preferably in technology or industrial environments); 5+ years of people management including team building or scaling; technical aptitude to learn complex engineering/hardware products deeply; demonstrated knowledge of instructional design methodology and adult learning theory (ADDIE, SAM); strong track record delivering training virtually, in-person, and with technology; proven experience designing and scaling training programs in ambiguous or early-stage environments; cross-functional liaison experience across product, engineering, operations, sales, and support; and ability to work on-site in Austin with travel to customer sites and company locations as needed.
