ElevenLabs is a $22B-valued AI research and product company founded in January 2023, now serving millions of users and thousands of businesses including Deutsche Telekom and Meta. The company has raised $781M from top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, ICONIQ Growth, and Sequoia. ElevenLabs operates three main platforms: ElevenAgents (voice and chat agents at scale), ElevenCreative (speech, music, image, and video generation across 70+ languages), and ElevenAPI (AI audio foundational models for developers).
You will own the US income tax provision, compliance, and controls function, reporting to the Head of Tax. This is a hands-on ownership role managing ElevenLabs' US entity and approximately 9 international entities during a period of rapid growth. While external providers prepare the provision and returns, you will manage those engagements and be accountable for the output quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning quarterly and annual ASC 740 provision work: deferred tax assets/liabilities, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions (FIN 48), tax rate reconciliation, and footnote disclosures
- Managing the US federal and multistate compliance calendar: return filings, extension deadlines, and estimated tax payments
- Executing technical tax work including §174 capitalization, §382 limitation studies, and NOL tracking
- Designing, documenting, and operating tax controls, including SOX compliance
- Writing technical memos supporting tax positions
- Collaborating directly with Big 4 advisors and external auditors
The company culture emphasizes high-velocity execution, minimal bureaucracy, impact over titles, and AI-first thinking. You'll have access to professional development stipends, annual company offsites, and co-working support if needed.
Career growth paths include building and leading the direct tax team as provision and compliance move in-house, expanding into M&A and corporate structuring initiatives, and broadening into wider tax leadership as the company scales.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep ASC 740 expertise at a multinational company: provision, deferreds, valuation allowance, uncertain tax positions, rate reconciliation, and footnote disclosure
- Experience owning a US federal and multistate compliance calendar (returns, extensions, estimated payments)
- Working knowledge of US international tax provisions (NCTI/GILTI, Subpart F, FDDEI, §163(j)) and their flow into the provision
- Experience managing Big 4 or equivalent external tax providers and working directly with external auditors
- Has built or operated SOX controls over tax, or supported a first SOX implementation
- CPA license required
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pre-IPO or first-10-K experience
- §174 or §41 computation expertise
- §382 limitation studies
- Equity compensation tax knowledge (ISOs, NSOs, RSUs)
- OneSource Tax Provision software or similar platform experience
