Radiant is building the world's first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company's flagship product, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed for rapid deployment to hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Founded in 2020, Radiant is preparing for initial customer deliveries in 2028.
The Direct Procurement Manager will lead sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of components, materials, and services essential to Radiant's microreactor systems. This is a strategic role responsible for establishing a resilient, cost-effective, and reliable supply base while working closely with Supplier Development Engineers, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, capacity, and strategic fit in collaboration with engineering and SDE teams.
- Negotiation & Contracts: Lead commercial negotiations for pricing, payment terms, and lead times. Develop and manage Master Supply Agreements, NDAs, and PO terms.
- Purchase Order Management: Oversee the complete PO lifecycle from requisition through closure, ensuring timely delivery and quality adherence.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers as the primary commercial contact.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze market trends and quotations to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive reduction initiatives.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate supply chain risks including supplier financial health, capacity constraints, and geopolitical factors.
- Performance Monitoring: Track procurement metrics (on-time delivery, cost savings, purchase price variance) and collaborate on supplier scorecards.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with SDEs, Engineering, Quality, and Project Management to integrate technical requirements and resolve supply issues.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to developing procurement policies, procedures, and systems.
Deliverables include successfully negotiated contracts with critical suppliers, managed PO portfolios aligned with project schedules, demonstrated cost savings, comprehensive supplier performance reports, supply chain risk mitigation plans, streamlined procurement processes, and strong internal and external relationships.
The role requires 100% onsite work at El Segundo headquarters with occasional travel to supplier locations (up to 30%). Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed is expected.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in manufacturing or technology sectors
- Proven track record of successful negotiation and contract management
- Strong understanding of procurement processes (RFQ/RFP, PO management, supplier evaluation)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and standard office software
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to supplier locations
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience conducting supplier audits, product and process inspections, and investigations
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and their procurement implications
- Understanding of supply chain dynamics within the energy or nuclear sector
