Zinc is scaling its engineering team and seeking a dedicated DevOps Engineer to maintain and extend the platform while improving developer experience across the organization. You will work closely with the Platform Lead to revamp architecture, CI pipelines, and deployment strategy to enable the engineering function to scale effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
**Developer Experience** — Define new tools and policies to maintain and improve developer experience while driving quality across the engineering function.
**Platform Architecture** — Collaborate with the Platform Lead to plan strategic improvements to the Zinc Platform, enabling the company's technology to scale alongside the customer base.
**CI/CD** — Ensure platform pipelines follow best practices, define standards across the tech stack, and maintain team velocity.
You will report directly to the Platform Lead and work closely on shaping and delivering the platform roadmap. This role has no on-call rotation and focuses on building resilient systems and processes that reduce reactive firefighting.
Success in this role means showing curiosity about how Zinc operates, embedding within the wider engineering team, demonstrating high ownership and passion for quality, proactively solving engineering problems across multiple areas, and collaborating on future tech stack revamps.
**Requirements:**
- Mid-to-senior level experience; scope and depth of ownership matter more than years of experience
- Wide-ranging experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering
- Proficiency with Typescript codebases and YAML within CI/CD pipeline contexts
- Hands-on experience with containers and container orchestration (AWS ECS preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD tooling such as CircleCI (strong plus)
- Ability to debug and understand performance issues in Javascript with functional programming knowledge
- Experience with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure-as-Code tooling; Terragrunt familiarity is a plus
- Strong cloud skills; AWS preferred but experience with other cloud providers welcome
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical team members
