Re:Build Manufacturing is revitalizing America's manufacturing base by operating an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform for aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy, and robotics sectors. This DevOps Engineer role supports deployments and production operations in a controlled AWS environment, including AWS GovCloud (US), where access is restricted to US Persons under ITAR regulations. You will be responsible for: **Deployment Support** – Assist with and execute releases of product team artifacts into the regulated production environment. Perform pre-deployment verification, execute deployments, verify service stability, and manage rollbacks when needed. Collaborate with product teams to resolve deployment failures and provide feedback on environmental requirements. **AWS Infrastructure Problem-Solving** – Investigate and resolve production infrastructure issues across AWS platforms, including compute, container services (ECS/EKS), networking and security groups, load balancers, DNS and certificates, IAM permissions, storage, and managed databases. Address both immediate post-deployment issues and spontaneous problems in stable systems, determining root causes rather than just restoring service. **Production Operations and Incident Management** – Coordinate production system stability by managing alerting, dashboards, and log collection. Handle incidents, communicate progress with engineering and product colleagues, and participate in an on-call rotation. Develop and maintain runbooks to standardize recurring issue resolution. **Environment Maintenance** – Preserve environment integrity through OS and foundational image updates, certificate renewal, backup and restore verification, capacity headroom management, and cost monitoring. Implement infrastructure changes using infrastructure-as-code and version control rather than manual console edits. **Working Within Access Boundaries** – Operate within a secure environment where data remains protected and only authorized US Persons have access. Handle logs, diagnostics, and support artifacts in compliance with export-control and customer data-handling requirements. When external vendor assistance is needed, develop sanitized evidence and reproductions to allow support without exposing controlled or customer data. **Documentation and Knowledge Sharing** – Record system configuration, deployment procedures, and incident history to ensure operational knowledge extends beyond a single individual. **Requirements:** - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field - Minimum 5 years' experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or production operations - At least 3 years supporting production workloads on AWS - Practical, hands-on experience diagnosing production problems on AWS: EC2, ECS/EKS, VPC architecture and security, ALB/NLB, Route 53, ACM, IAM policy evaluation, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch - Ability to read CloudTrail and CloudWatch logs to reconstruct events - Understanding of container images, artifact versioning, environment configuration, secrets injection, and rollback procedures - Ability to read, modify, and safely apply Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation - Solid Linux administration and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, routing, firewall behavior) - Proficiency in Bash and Python (or Go) for automation, diagnostics, and tooling - Experience with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar) - Comfortable supporting software without source code access, working from telemetry and behavior - Good judgment about sensitive and client-related information in logs, stack traces, and artifacts - Familiarity with ITAR, CUI, FedRAMP, PCI-DSS, or HIPAA environments is advantageous - Strong communication and ownership; ability to keep collaborators informed during incidents - Self-directed and reliable, as much of the environment cannot be observed by others - AWS GovCloud experience is a plus but not required; equivalent experience in isolated or regulated environments is equally relevant
