MaintainX, now part of Autodesk Operations Solutions, is a mobile-first work execution platform serving 13,000+ customers including Duracell, McDonald's, Shell, DHL, and Volvo. The platform manages 13.9 million assets and 79.5 million completed work orders. Autodesk's strategy unifies design, make, and operate phases into one continuous lifecycle, with MaintainX leading the "operate" phase.
You will shape the technical direction of mobile feature design, delivery, and operations across the entire development organization (150+ engineers). This is a staff/principal-level role focused on platform architecture and developer enablement, not a single-team responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and drive 1–2 year technical strategy, governance, and architecture for the mobile platform, balancing immediate developer friction points, platform scalability, and organizational needs.
- Design and implement foundational tools and infrastructure for the mobile application; establish quality standards through hands-on contributions to complex problems.
- Lead consolidation and evolution of platform fundamentals: SDKs, CI pipelines, build tools, release trains, observability, and AI-native developer golden paths.
- Champion AI-native workflows by integrating AI into your own practice, the platform, and how product teams develop and ship.
- Elevate engineering excellence across the organization through architecture reviews, RFCs, and technical mentorship of senior developers and tech leads.
- Collaborate with platform engineering managers across teams to set priorities, define roadmaps, and align technical direction.
- Define platform success metrics (adoption, build time, delivery velocity, developer satisfaction) and use them to guide investment and report impact.
- Present technical priorities, decisions, and results to senior leadership; collaborate daily with technical leaders across the company.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of software development experience with significant mobile expertise and proven track record of staff/principal-level technical leadership.
- AI-native mindset: you have introduced AI-assisted workflows into a platform or organization, not just your personal workflow.
- Deep expertise in React Native: architecture, performance, and native integration (iOS and Android).
- Proven success designing shared modules, SDKs, and reusable components used by many teams, and driving their adoption.
- Strong fundamentals in mobile: CI/CD, build systems, release management, app signing and distribution, mobile observability.
- Experience influencing technical direction across multiple teams and organizations without hierarchical authority, including driving cross-functional initiatives from proposal to adoption.
- Product mindset for internal platforms: you understand your customers, measure adoption, and pragmatically decide between building and buying.
- Excellent mentoring and communication skills; ability to coach senior developers and explain complex technical topics to executives.
- Expert-level English (spoken and written) to work with platform managers across teams, present to senior leadership, and collaborate with technical leaders outside Quebec.
