Fluidstack is building civilization-scale compute infrastructure for AI, acquiring power, designing and operating data centers at unprecedented speed and scale. The Modular team designs factory-produced, serialized data center modules as manufactured products rather than construction projects.
As Design Release Engineer, you will own the complete release process from engineering through production, ensuring drawings, BOMs, and specifications are complete, approved, and released to manufacturing at the correct revision every time. You will administer engineering change orders (ECOs) and engineering change notices (ECNs), controlling revision history and dispositioning changes across units at different build states, in inventory, and at supplier locations.
Key responsibilities include maintaining BOM integrity across engineering, manufacturing, PLM, ERP, and MES systems; ensuring as-designed, as-built, and as-maintained configurations stay synchronized; gating release readiness through drawing checks, tolerance verification, procurement flag identification, and design-for-manufacturability feedback; and driving release communication across design, supply chain, quality, and production teams.
You should have owned release or configuration management for serialized manufactured hardware (modules, vehicles, machinery). You've administered ECOs across live production, dispositioning changes across units in build, inventory, and field. Your BOMs reconcile because you maintain discipline. You catch immature releases before manufacturing does—incomplete drawings, missing tolerances, and unspecified requirements don't pass your gate. You've untangled as-designed vs. as-built misalignment at fast-scaling companies and understand what breaks without release discipline. You work cross-functionally; design, supply chain, quality, and production trust your revision state because you keep them informed proactively.
Bonus experience includes PLM platforms (Arena, Teamcenter, Windchill), ERP/MES integration (NetSuite, SAP), ASME Y14.5 drawing standards, or manufacturing/quality engineering backgrounds. The role demands extreme ownership, full autonomy, velocity, first-principles thinking, and the ability to thrive at high intensity on civilization-scale infrastructure problems.
