Mistral is a leading AI company providing full-stack solutions from frontier models to developer tools and compute infrastructure. This Deputy Director role leads physical safety and security operations for Mistral's Paris headquarters, protecting employees, assets, and intellectual property while enabling business growth.
You will own the end-to-end physical security framework, including access control, surveillance systems, and crisis response protocols. Key responsibilities include defining and implementing a unified physical security strategy aligned with global policies and French/EU regulations; consolidating and managing security vendors under SLAs; establishing a regulatory compliance program for CNIL, RGPD, NIS2, and ISO standards; deploying state-of-the-art security technologies including AI-powered surveillance and intrusion detection; developing and testing crisis response frameworks for evacuations and high-impact incidents; formalizing liaison protocols with French authorities (Police, Gendarmerie, ANSSI) for threat intelligence sharing; optimizing the France security budget (€1M–3M annually) through vendor consolidation and efficiency gains; and measuring security performance with continuous improvement metrics.
You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external authorities to establish Mistral's HQ as a benchmark for physical security in the tech sector, creating a scalable model for expansion across Europe.
Required qualifications include proven experience designing and implementing physical security programs for large, high-stakes facilities or multi-site operations; vendor management expertise with a track record of consolidating and optimizing security service contracts; crisis leadership with hands-on experience developing emergency response protocols; deep knowledge of French/EU compliance frameworks and audit/certification experience; a builder mentality thriving in ambiguous environments; data-driven decision-making using KPIs and risk assessments; resilience under pressure in fast-evolving situations; and uncompromising integrity in handling sensitive information.
