Jerry is building an AI-powered platform to manage all your physical assets—cars, homes, motorcycles, and more. Starting with car insurance in 2019, Jerry has grown to 5M+ customers, raised $240M+, and achieved profitability in 2024. The company is now expanding into adjacent verticals to become a one-stop-shop for managing physical assets.
The Data Science & Analytics team is a core driver of Jerry's business, composed of former McKinsey, BCG, and Bain consultants who inform decision-making across product, growth, tech, and operations. Each business unit has an embedded data scientist who shapes strategic questions, pulls and interprets data, and drives teams toward the next milestone: scaling from 5M to 50M customers and becoming a $10B business in four years.
You will join this central Data Science team and be embedded in one of Jerry's core business areas—Growth Marketing, Product Development, AI & Automation, or Strategic Partnerships. You'll own the analytical function for your business unit end-to-end.
Key responsibilities:
- Define the right problems: Understand what business question an analysis answers and what decision it informs. Push back on flawed questions.
- Data and insights: Define metrics, build reports, run analyses, design experiments, and surface insights that move your team's key metrics.
- Drive outcomes: Bring recommendations to product, growth, finance, or operations counterparts. Explain what's happening, why, and what next steps should be.
The role is hands-on—you'll surface analytical insights, drive decisions, and see them through end-to-end. There's no corporate fluff, unnecessary meetings, or approval bottlenecks. Every person owns a critical domain, and the team values first-principles thinking, direct communication, and ownership mentality.
Tools you'll use: SQL (Clickhouse), Metabase, Python, Jupyter Hub, GitHub.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience at a consulting firm, investment bank, or high-growth technology company
- Strong analytical skills; ability to pull, structure, and interpret data independently
- Track record of owning ambiguous problems and delivering impact
- Clear, persuasive communicator who can influence decisions at the leadership level
- First-principles thinker who breaks ambiguous problems into clear hypotheses before touching data
- Direct communicator who can walk skeptical stakeholders through complex findings and get buy-in
- Owner mentality: act like your name is on the door and take responsibility for fixing broken things
