Asana is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to help define the company's growth strategy as users increasingly discover and adopt software through LLM interfaces like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. You'll be part of Asana's AI organization, leveraging data to influence how the company builds agentic work management products. In this role, you will work closely with Product Managers, User Researchers, and Engineers to understand the needs of agentic work management customers. You'll employ data frameworks and methodologies to understand user segments and identify levers for driving engagement. You'll act as the data lead for specific AI features, using data analysis and storytelling to identify key product opportunities for the roadmap. You'll design experiments that measure product progress and own key performance metrics. You'll also collaborate with fellow Data Scientists to research, identify, and disseminate best practices across teams. Asana's Data Science team fulfills the company's mission by informing strategy, defining success metrics, and identifying new ways to deliver user value. Data scientists work at the intersection of deepening customer understanding and driving business outcomes through experimentation, causal inference, statistical and machine learning techniques, and data storytelling. The role is based in Asana's Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. Standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most employees have the option to work from home on Wednesdays, with Friday flexibility depending on the type of work and team partnerships. REQUIREMENTS: - 4–6 years of data science experience, with majority in growth-focused roles at B2B SaaS companies - 0→1 builder mentality; demonstrated ability to thrive independently in ambiguous environments where you invent new playbooks rather than execute existing ones - Exceptional cross-functional leadership; ability to write crisply, tell clear stories, and influence across product, engineering, design, partnerships, sales, and executive stakeholders - Experience with AI/ML products, LLM APIs, or third-party platform integrations; strong preference for candidates who have worked with conversational AI or built features integrating ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms - Strong analytical foundation with deep fluency in experimentation, A/B testing, and pipeline management - Strategic business acumen to balance user experience with revenue objectives while translating emerging technology trends into actionable product strategy - Genuine AI enthusiasm; curiosity, adaptability, and genuine excitement about how LLMs are transforming software discovery and adoption - Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making - Expert in relational data modeling and SQL; fluent in at least one modern language useful for data processing (e.g., R, Python, or Scala) - Familiarity with statistical methods including experimental design, regression, and causal inference
