The Global Value Delivery team leads software implementation, deployment, and adoption for clients, helping them accelerate digital transformation with Cognite's product suite.
As a Senior Data Engineer based in Houston, you will design, develop, and implement data infrastructure and best-in-class pipelines that collect, connect, centralize, and curate data from various internal and external sources. You will ensure architectures support business needs and recommend improvements to data reliability and efficiency. This is a hands-on role where you'll partner directly with Solution Architects and clients to understand requirements and deliver cutting-edge industry solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Partner with Solution Architects to understand client requirements and define queries with subject matter experts
- Develop custom extractors using backend technologies including Python, Spark, and REST APIs
- Customize existing extractors (database extractors using SQL, event streaming using Kafka) and deploy using Docker
- Create custom data models for data discovery, mapping, and cleansing
- Collaborate with product development to turn customer needs into potential product offerings
- Prototype data visualization and dashboards
- Travel onsite to meet with and engage clients
This is a hybrid role based in the Houston office. Candidates must be local to Houston.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in a data-intensive role
- Experience in Oil & Gas and/or Manufacturing is required
- BS or MS degree in computer science or related field
- Strong coding skills with passion for software development
- Strong understanding of data analysis or data science
- Experience with data technologies: ETL, SQL, Python
- Ability to work on both internal and external client-facing projects and communicate with key stakeholders
- Ability to travel onsite to meet with and engage clients
- Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
