Chime, a fintech company, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to serve as the dedicated analytics partner to the Investor Relations and Corporate Strategy teams. As a public company, Chime must report accurate, consistent, and well-understood performance data to investors each quarter. In this role, you will build a holistic view of business performance, use internal data to support earnings communications and public disclosures, and bring analytical rigor to high-priority strategic projects.
This is a highly cross-functional role requiring collaboration across Finance, Product, Marketing, Risk, Operations, and other Analytics teams. The focus is on business performance, financial and operating metrics, and strategic analysis rather than experimentation or A/B testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building a company-wide view of Chime's performance, connecting member growth, engagement, and product usage to financial and operating metrics
- Partnering with Investor Relations to translate internal data into investor communications, supporting quarterly earnings materials, shareholder communications, and public disclosures
- Serving as an arbiter of truth with data, ensuring metrics are precisely defined, consistent across sources, and able to withstand scrutiny
- Explaining metric movements, spotting trends and inflection points, and turning findings into clear narratives for senior leaders
- Partnering with Corporate Strategy on high-priority, high-visibility projects with strategic impact
- Working across all parts of Chime to understand operations and how performance should be measured
- Delivering high-stakes analyses on tight timelines during earnings cycles without compromising accuracy
- Building durable, reusable data models and reporting for consistent and efficient answers to recurring questions
Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including hands-on work in data-focused roles delivering analyses for executive audiences
- Prior experience in management consulting, investment banking, or similar analytical roles (highly valued)
- Strong financial acumen: fluency in financial statements, unit economics, and investor KPIs; familiarity with public company reporting, earnings, and disclosures is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail and high bar for accuracy; ability to reconcile numbers across sources and pressure-test work
- Agility and comfort with ambiguity; ability to reprioritize quickly and perform under tight deadlines
- Expert-level SQL and proficiency in Python for analysis
- Strong business intuition and holistic thinking about value creation (FinTech or financial services experience a plus)
- Excellent communication and data storytelling skills; experience distilling complex analyses into clear narratives for senior leaders; Hex experience is a plus
- Track record of building trusted relationships and working cross-functionally with multiple teams
- Experience building data models in dbt and fluency with AI coding and analytics tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor)
