Salary: USD 110,000 - 126,000 / annual

Ibotta, a leading performance marketing platform (NYSE: IBTA), is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Data Infrastructure & Compliance Engineering (DICE) squad within the Data Platform Organization. You will be responsible for building and governing the foundational data platform that powers the entire company. Key responsibilities include: - Data Platform Infrastructure: Build and maintain Terraform and Python code that provisions Databricks workspaces, catalogs, and AWS data infrastructure. Extend patterns and modules for other teams to deploy against. - Governance and Access Control: Implement and automate controls for data security and auditability, including identity and permissions management, data retention enforcement, and evidence collection for SOX and SOC 2 compliance. - Self-Service Infrastructure Tooling: Develop automation and applications enabling teams to provision, monitor, and manage their own data infrastructure within established standards. - Data Movement at Scale: Use Python and Spark to build and maintain pipelines and frameworks that move data through Ibotta's Data Lake while meeting governance and security standards. - Reliability and Support: Perform incident resolution and root cause analysis on critical outages, implement systematic fixes, and participate in on-call rotation including after-hours coverage. - Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement improvements to data platform operations, including automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for reliability and performance. The position is hybrid in Denver, Colorado, requiring 3 days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Relocation assistance is available for candidates outside the Denver area. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years of software engineering experience with focus on data engineering, analytics engineering, or backend development - Proficiency in Python and SQL - Familiarity with medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) or similar layered data design patterns - Experience building big data pipelines supporting data transformation, metadata, dependency management, and workload orchestration - Experience provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure with Terraform or similar tooling - Hands-on experience with AWS and Databricks or comparable Spark-based platform - Understanding of access control, data privacy, or compliance requirements in a data context - Experience as a key contributor on medium to large data or infrastructure projects from ideation through implementation - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
