Armada is a hyperscaler for edge AI infrastructure, backed by ~$500M in funding from Founders Fund, Lux, BlackRock, and Microsoft, with strategic partnerships including NVIDIA, Palantir, and SpaceX. The company builds modular, deployable compute systems for sovereign and edge AI deployments across 60+ countries.
As Data Center Project Architect, you will own the architectural strategy and execution for Armada's Modular Data Center (MDC) deployments globally, from initial site due diligence through permitting, design, and construction handoff. This is a newly created role supporting the Galleon and Leviathan product lines as the company scales MDC deployments internationally.
Key responsibilities include:
• Identify, vet, and manage relationships with domestic and international architecture vendors and local permitting/code consultants, ensuring all designs comply with local building, fire, and life-safety codes (IBC and international equivalents).
• Conduct early-stage architectural due diligence on new global sites: evaluate zoning, building codes, and permitting pathways; flag vendor gaps and approval risks before they cause costly late-stage redesigns or timeline slips.
• Develop and maintain a repeatable, standardized architectural design language for MDC buildings, auxiliary structures (admin, security, support), and campus layouts that scales across geographies rather than requiring one-off designs per site.
• Personally develop architectural designs for new Armada products and first-of-a-kind site conditions where no vendor precedent exists; establish the design basis in-house before handoff to local architects and permitting consultants.
• Serve as the architectural liaison between Armada's product and engineering teams and external architects, general contractors, and code consultants, ensuring life-safety, occupancy, and operational workflow requirements flow correctly from design through fabrication, installation, and as-built construction.
• Build and maintain architectural design standards, permitting checklists, and code-compliance workflows by geography; provide operational readiness sign-off.
The role is remote-based with approximately 20–30% travel to project sites and vendor/contractor locations. You will work across multiple geographies and jurisdictions, requiring strong vendor management, technical design expertise, and ability to navigate complex permitting and code environments.
