Lambda is hiring a Data Center Operations Systems Engineer to support its AI cloud infrastructure serving tens of thousands of customers. This role is based in the Quincy, WA data center and requires 5 days per week on-site presence.
You will be responsible for ensuring new server, storage, and network infrastructure is properly racked, labeled, cabled, and configured. You'll troubleshoot hardware and software issues in advanced GPU and networking systems, document data center layouts and network topology in DCIM software, and work with supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure timely deployment of systems for large-scale projects.
Key responsibilities include managing parts depot inventory, tracking equipment through the delivery-store-stage-deploy-handoff process, partnering with hardware support teams on incident resolution, coordinating with the RMA team on faulty parts, and following installation standards for consistency across all data centers.
Required qualifications include strong experience with critical infrastructure systems (power distribution, air flow management, environmental monitoring, capacity planning, DCIM software, structured cabling), familiarity with carrier DIA circuits and fiber testing, basic knowledge of cable optics, solid understanding of single and three-phase power theory, PDU balancing, server hardware and boot processes, and ability to structure and improve complex maintenance procedures.
You should be action-oriented, willing to train junior staff, and able to travel for new data center bring-ups. Nice-to-have skills include 3+ years of data center infrastructure experience, knowledge of network topology and 400GB Infiniband architectures, DDP or SCM cluster storage systems experience, JIRA/Zendesk reporting, advanced Linux administration, and experience with high-performance compute GPU systems (especially Nvidia NVL72).
