Salary: CAD 118,300 - 142,000 / annual
Zynga Poker, part of Take-Two Interactive, is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to drive data-informed decisions impacting millions of players worldwide. This is a senior individual contributor role—Principal is positioned as the next step above Senior—offering broader ownership and scope within the analytics organization.
You will shape the player experience across multiple dimensions:
**Product Strategy & Insights**: Analyze long and short-term trends to influence product direction. Collaborate with the Product team to enhance revenue, retention, and engagement metrics through A/B testing, insights analysis, and dashboard development.
**Experimentation & Analysis**: Design, conduct, and analyze statistically sound experiments that drive measurable impact. Analyze player behavior to understand motivations and preferences, partnering with game design and consumer insights teams to translate findings into actionable improvements.
**Data Infrastructure & BI**: Design and maintain ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources, ensuring a single source of truth for analyses. Design and maintain a suite of highly visible dashboards used by game leadership and designers for strategic decision-making.
**Game Integrity & Fraud Detection**: Play a leading role in designing and continuously improving fraud and bad actor models to maintain a healthy gaming ecosystem.
**Game Telemetry & Monitoring**: Design game telemetry to capture meaningful player interaction data. Monitor and maintain the integrity of tools and models used to streamline workflows and personalize player experience, in collaboration with other data analysts and scientists.
**AI & Process Improvement**: Participate in the Analytics Org's AI initiative to improve analytics workflows. Demonstrate interest in using LLMs to enhance team processes and work efficiency.
**Domain Engagement**: Actively play and engage with Zynga games to maintain first-hand understanding of player experience, game mechanics, and potential pain points. Support the economy team in tuning game features for long-term health.
**Knowledge Sharing**: Continuously learn about analytics best practices and actively promote these practices across various games and teams.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field (Master's or PhD preferred)
- Minimum 8 years in data science or analytics roles, preferably with 6 years in Product Data Science or Gaming Analytics
- Demonstrated experience guiding product teams through complex decisions and analyses with ambiguous data
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Demonstrated experience in data mining, data visualization, statistical analysis, and machine learning
- Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau and version control systems such as Git (advantageous)
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to explain complex data in simple, actionable terms
- Highly self-motivated with keen problem-solving ability and willingness to take ownership
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Experience or demonstrated interest in improving analytics workflows using LLMs (plus)
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or experience automating recurring analytics workflows (plus)
- Bonus: Familiarity with poker gameplay/terminology or social casino economies
