StockX is seeking a Data Analyst for Indirect Tax to support the company's growing global business. You'll join the Tax team working collaboratively with Accounting, Product, Data Engineering, Customer Support, and external advisors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform data reconciliations and validate transaction-level tax data, investigating variances between Avalara and subledger systems
- Monitor and manage indirect tax exemption certificates across North America, identifying process improvement opportunities
- Support indirect tax compliance and reporting by investigating root causes, validating data fixes, and strengthening tax data controls
- Prepare indirect tax filings by organizing data, validating reports, and reviewing work papers
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax compliance activities including registrations, renewals, and recurring tax forms
- Coordinate tax payment support by preparing payment details and confirming amounts
- Maintain thorough tax records including filing support, reconciliation work papers, and audit materials
- Monitor tax email accounts and triage, categorize, and escalate items as needed
- Manage communications with taxing authorities on notices, account balances, filing status, and audit inquiries
- Check taxing authority online portals for notices, messages, and required actions
Required qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in tax data analysis, finance operations, tax system implementation, or similar analytical role
- Proven ability to work with large datasets, reconcile data across multiple systems, and identify variances
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized with ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Nice-to-have skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field
- Experience with U.S. sales and use tax, VAT/GST, Avalara, ERP systems, or tax engine data
- Familiarity with SQL, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Python, or Databricks
- Experience working with Data Engineering or Product teams
