Robinhood is seeking a Crypto Risk Lead to design, implement, and operate an independent risk management program for its Canadian crypto business. This is a foundational role as Robinhood expands operations in Canada, requiring someone to adapt the company's global risk framework to meet Canadian regulatory requirements (CIRO, CSA) while staying current with evolving crypto-specific regulations.
Key responsibilities include: implementing and owning Canada's independent risk management program; leading risk assessments (RCSAs) across Canadian crypto operations; managing the full lifecycle of issues and incidents from identification through remediation; evaluating new products, digital assets, and business changes for risk and control impact before launch; providing independent risk opinions to business and compliance teams; owning risk reporting for the board and risk committees, including materials, KRIs, and trend analysis; supporting regulatory exams and audits; and partnering with Canada's compliance leadership and cross-functional teams (operations, engineering, legal, global enterprise risk) to maintain a consistent risk view.
The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of risk management experience in financial services, crypto, fintech, or comparably regulated industries, with demonstrated experience building or independently running a risk program. Working knowledge of the Canadian financial services regulatory environment is essential, with direct CIRO, CSA, or crypto-specific regulatory experience strongly preferred. You should have expertise designing and implementing risk governance frameworks, policies, and procedures (RCSAs, KRI development, issue management); experience preparing materials for and presenting to boards, risk committees, or senior executives; and comfort using data, automation, and AI-enabled tools to enhance risk monitoring and reporting. GRC tool experience is a plus.
The role is based in Toronto with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Robinhood emphasizes in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community.
