The Crypto Operations Associate will join Alpaca's 100% distributed crypto team, reporting directly to the Global Director of Crypto Operations. This role is based remotely with core working hours 9am–5pm PT.
Key responsibilities include: daily monitoring and surveillance of all customer activity; operational tasks such as cryptocurrency trading executions, exception handling (errors, corrections), and cash management; customer onboarding including KYC and account approval; general ledger account review and reconciliation of discrepancies; support for the Anti-Money Laundering Program and suspicious activity investigations; and proactive workflow, policy, and tool improvements. The role requires clear communication with internal and external partners and ownership of ad hoc projects.
Required qualifications: 3+ years of relevant experience in broker-dealer, financial services, trading, or cryptocurrency operations; bachelor's degree or equivalent; familiarity with cryptocurrency or strong willingness to learn; ability to work effectively in teams and independently; strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills; adaptability to rapidly changing business and regulatory environments; and alignment with Alpaca's mission.
Nice-to-haves include startup mindset for fast-paced, high-growth environments and familiarity with FinTech, financial markets, cryptocurrencies, or investing applications.
