Orenda develops, builds, owns, and operates battery energy storage projects in urban environments to support renewable energy integration and grid efficiency. The Project Execution Division manages projects from late-stage development through construction delivery, with a focus on repeatable, disciplined execution.
As Cost Control Engineer (Governance), you will embed an "owner's check" function within the preconstruction team, owning the cost governance system that keeps budgets and scope assumptions consistent, traceable, and defensible as projects advance from concept to contract-ready execution. This is not a procurement or contract execution role—it is the single source of truth for project budgets and structured change control.
Key responsibilities include:
• Build and maintain project-specific cost baselines used to assess commercial viability, ensuring completeness, internal consistency, and decision-grade quality.
• Maintain a structured log of potential cost changes as assumptions evolve, with clear rationale and audit trails.
• Develop and maintain standardized reference cost models by configuration and quantified variance drivers to price deltas off schematic inputs.
• Enforce explicit allowances for uncertainty and maintain a confidence scoring rubric as scope maturity increases.
• Normalize contractor proposals into a standard bill-of-quantities (BoQ) and cost-code structure for apples-to-apples bid comparison.
• Reconcile model outputs to quotes, bids, and awards; update unit rates and variance logic iteratively.
• Maintain a library of common scope-change drivers and unit-rate deltas to enable rapid sensitivity analysis.
• Document gaps and escalate unknowns, flagging what is missing and what is needed to close gaps.
• Maintain clean audit trails for assumptions, sources, and model updates with comprehensive change logs.
You will partner cross-functionally with preconstruction, procurement, development/engineering, construction, and finance teams.
