OpenAI's Corporate Security team is seeking a Manager to lead day-to-day physical security operations across the San Francisco office while supporting the development of global security strategies, policies, and procedures. This role requires hands-on experience managing corporate security operations and typically involves 4–5 days in the office per week.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, implementing, and managing physical security measures, policies, systems, and vendor relationships to protect employees and visitors at the San Francisco offices.
- Supporting the International Director in safeguarding OpenAI's global footprint by assisting with security policy writing, ensuring consistency with US and main office procedures, and developing ongoing mitigation strategies.
- Supporting local events and collaborating with the resilience team on policy and procedure updates.
- Establishing and strengthening relationships with local law enforcement agencies, peer security organizations, and external partners to stay current on emerging risks.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for the Corporate Security Operations team on global policy and procedures, contributing to policy development and updates across all Corporate Security pillars.
- Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training programs, and compliance initiatives to ensure all protocols meet high-quality standards and legal requirements.
Ideal candidates will have 10+ years in corporate or vendor security, plus 5+ years in law enforcement or military environments. Required skills include operations management of vendor security teams, understanding of advanced security technologies (access control, surveillance, video management, intrusion detection systems), proven ability to evaluate and manage third-party security vendors, strong partnership and stakeholder engagement capabilities, and proficiency in creating and executing SOPs and training programs. Comfort working in dynamic environments and responding swiftly to emerging threats is essential.
