Grüns, a fast-growing consumer nutrition brand now part of Unilever's Wellbeing Collective, is hiring a Corporate Counsel to serve as the second lawyer on the legal team. You will work directly with and be mentored by the General Counsel, a former Morrison & Foerster partner with over a decade of consumer products experience.
In this role, you will own the day-to-day legal work that keeps the business moving, including commercial contract review end-to-end (vendor, marketing, creator partnership, agency, and retailer agreements), litigation management (holds, preservation, discovery, subpoena coordination), and advertising enforcement and brand protection (cease-and-desist letters, trademark support). You will also build systems and processes that make the legal function faster and smarter—including precedent libraries, negotiation playbooks, contract repositories, and matter tracking—and handle recurring marketing and promotions work such as sweepstakes and giveaway rules.
You will negotiate directly with counterparties, sit alongside Marketing, Retail, Ops, People, and Customer Experience teams during decision-making, and coordinate with Unilever's specialist legal teams (IP, privacy, employment, litigation) when needed. The role includes legal operations responsibilities: intake, prioritization, and outside counsel budget management. You will have the ownership and pace of a company still building, with access to Unilever's depth and global legal network. This is a fully remote role with biannual in-person off-sites.
Key aspects: You will be evaluated on impact, not hours—no billable hours or timesheets. You own your matters and have authority from day one. The role is designed to grow with the person in it, offering breadth across contracts, litigation, IP, marketing, privacy, and employment in a single seat.
REQUIREMENTS:

- Strong judgment on risk in fast-moving, high-stakes situations; ability to tackle problems outside core expertise independently
- Litigation exposure preferred (drafting/managing holds, discovery/subpoena logistics, outside counsel management)
- Entrepreneurial energy demonstrated through operating/sales roles, business degree/MBA, startup experience, or similar (preferred)
- Fluent and thoughtful AI use with deep understanding of verification and confidentiality/privilege protection in rapidly changing environments
- Experience in CPG, DTC, supplements, food and beverage, or advertising law (strongly preferred)
- Exceptionally organized with ability to manage dozens of matters simultaneously, each with clear ownership, next steps, and trackable status
- Takes initiative, comfortable with unfamiliar work, calibrates effort appropriately, and understands business economics and margin
