Armada is a hyperscaler for edge AI infrastructure, delivering modular AI solutions deployed across 60+ countries for energy, defense, and other sectors. Backed by nearly $500M in funding from Founders Fund, Lux, BlackRock, and Microsoft, with strategic partnerships including Microsoft, Dell, Palantir, NVIDIA, SpaceX, and Skydio, the company is preparing for IPO and scaling rapidly. You will lead Armada's global accounting function as Director, Corporate Controller, reporting to the VP of Finance. This is a builder role—not maintenance. You will architect the accounting processes, systems, and controls infrastructure that a much larger, multi-entity, manufacturing-and-deployment business will run on, while staying hands-on enough to resolve the hardest technical accounting questions personally. Key responsibilities span five areas: **Close and Reporting:** Own the global month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, driving it to a predictable 7–10 business days. Deliver accurate, timely US GAAP financial statements including multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency translation across international subsidiaries. Own the accounting content of board, investor, and lender reporting packages, and ensure ongoing debt covenant compliance. **Technical Accounting and Policy:** Establish and document the company's accounting policies and technical positions, defending them with auditors and senior leadership. Lead revenue recognition (ASC 606) on complex, milestone-heavy hardware, deployment, software, and services contracts with multiple performance obligations and variable consideration. Advise sales, legal, and deal teams on revenue and accounting implications of complex customer and government contract terms before signature. Own accounting for leases (ASC 842), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), debt and financing transactions, contract costs (ASC 340-40), and foreign operations (ASC 830). **Audit, Controls, and IPO Readiness:** Own the external audit relationship and lead the annual audit, negotiating significant accounting and scope matters with the audit partner. Define the SOX readiness roadmap and direct the design and implementation of internal controls to achieve a SOX-ready control environment within 12 months. Own the accounting workstreams for IPO readiness, partnering with legal, FP&A, and external advisors on timeline and deliverables. **Government and International:** Own accounting and compliance for US government contracts (Other Transaction agreements today, FAR/DFARS work ahead), including invoicing and cost compliance. Partner with tax and treasury to set strategy for intercompany, transfer pricing, statutory audits, and local filings across international entities. **Strategy, Leadership, and Systems:** Set the accounting systems roadmap; own and scale the ERP (NetSuite) and surrounding stack including procure-to-pay, billing, payroll, inventory/MRP, and consolidation tools. Develop new methods to automate, standardize, and document close and reporting processes as the business scales. Build, lead, and develop a growing accounting and tax organization, including hiring and developing managers; set the bar for rigor and pace. You will direct accounting and tax through a team of managers and senior individual contributors, and partner with FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and the Executive Team. **Requirements:** - 10+ years of accounting experience, with 5+ years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role - Deep expertise in US GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and technical accounting - Proven experience leading accounting teams and building scalable processes and systems - Experience with complex revenue contracts, multi-entity consolidation, and foreign operations - Demonstrated ability to lead external audits and drive SOX/internal control implementations - Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and accounting technology stacks - Familiarity with government contracting accounting (FAR/DFARS or Other Transaction agreements a plus) - IPO readiness or public-company accounting experience strongly preferred - International operations experience in the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, or Asia-Pacific a plus - CPA or equivalent professional accounting credential preferred
