Qualified Health is an AI-native healthcare company building generative AI infrastructure for safe AI governance, healthcare-specific agent creation, and real-time algorithm monitoring. We're seeking a startup-focused Controller to own the financial integrity and operational infrastructure of a fast-growing, venture-backed organization. You will own the monthly and quarterly close process end-to-end, ensuring speed, cleanliness, and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities include treasury management (banking, runway, cash controls), maintaining GAAP-compliant financial statements with audit-ready documentation, and revenue recognition with SaaS expertise. You'll manage employee payroll in partnership with People Ops, handle vendor and contractor payments, and maintain the actuals infrastructure including Brex and expense reconciliation. You'll create a tight feedback loop between forecasts and actuals, treating variance as a learning opportunity while raising risks effectively. You'll lead relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and accounting firms, support board reporting and investor diligence with well-organized financials, and evaluate accounting systems and tooling to make deliberate build/buy/defer decisions. You'll design and own end-to-end AP/AR processes. This role requires craft at its core—pattern-matching to best-in-the-world execution and building lean, durable infrastructure that scales without becoming a burden. You'll balance administrative work with strategic automation and thoughtful prioritization. REQUIREMENTS: - 8–10 years in accounting or controllership, including time at a high-growth startup and a foundation in public accounting or audit (preferred). CPA strongly preferred. - Mastery of GAAP fundamentals applied in a scaling context; understanding of compliance and safety trade-offs. - Deep familiarity with ASC 606 in a SaaS or recurring revenue context. Experience with variable or performance-based compensation accounting is a bonus. - Proven ability to build for diligence (venture, strategic, or audit). - Design processes that are lean, document them for sustainability, and resist unnecessary complexity. - Collaborative, transparent communication; trusted partner within finance and across the business. - Healthcare accounting experience is a plus.
