Finary is an AI-powered wealth management platform serving over 1 million users across Europe. The company holds multiple financial licenses (MiCA crypto-asset service provider, investment firm, payment institution, and insurance broker) and is regulated by choice, not by mandate.
As Control Officer, you will be the independent control function ensuring that Finary's operations align with its regulatory commitments across all four licenses. You will report to the Head of Compliance in a team of five.
Key responsibilities:
- Execute approximately 40 permanent controls annually (3–5 days each), covering all four licenses
- Design and execute each control independently: define population, sampling methodology, test steps, and gather evidence
- Document findings and recommendations based on evidence; review with relevant teams and incorporate their feedback
- Maintain and improve the control plan by keeping regulatory references current, raising control quality, and running spot controls when risks are identified
- Track all recommendations through closure, including re-testing and escalation of overdue items
- Automate control execution using data and AI tools to maximize time spent on judgment rather than manual testing
- Maintain independence: no operational responsibilities; variable compensation tied solely to control quality and plan execution
You will work in a direct, transparent culture that emphasizes radical candor and AI-first thinking. The role is based in Paris with a hybrid arrangement (minimum 2 days on-site, maximum 3 days remote per week). Start date: Q1 2027.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in permanent control, regulatory consulting, or inspection within financial services, with direct execution of controls
- Working papers that have been reviewed in a regulator inspection or internal audit
- Tested controls in at least two types of licensed institutions (crypto-asset service provider, investment firm, payment/e-money institution, or insurance intermediary)
- Proficiency with data and AI tools for control testing and automation (required, not optional)
- Evidence-based findings with ability to incorporate business feedback during review
- Ability to plan and deliver independently following the control plan and risk map
- Native-level French and professional English
- Not suited if you prefer operational roles, require a GRC tool and team to start, or view controls as compliance checkboxes
