Fireworks is a Series D AI infrastructure platform ($17.5B valuation) that enables companies to build, train, and serve specialized AI models. Founded by the PyTorch team and backed by AMD, NVIDIA, Sequoia, and other tier-one investors, Fireworks powers production AI across text, image, embedding, audio, and multimodal workloads. You will join the Accounting team as a Compute Financial Analyst, responsible for building and scaling the accounting, allocation, and reporting infrastructure for compute cost of revenue. Compute is Fireworks' largest expense category and primary driver of gross margin, spanning multiple cloud service providers (CSPs) and neocloud vendors with complex invoicing cadences, true-up mechanics, and credit terms. Key responsibilities include: - Support monthly close for compute cost of revenue: prepare cloud cost journal entries, accruals for unbilled usage, prepaid amortization, true-ups, and supporting schedules - Reconcile GPU utilization data to CSP invoices, contracted capacity, and the general ledger; research variances, idle capacity, and billing discrepancies - Prepare and maintain prepaid cloud balance schedules with short-term/long-term classification, amortization tied to committed capacity, and contract-tied rollforwards - Account for complex vendor and partnership arrangements including committed spend, prepayment/reimbursement structures, revenue share, SLA credits, and third-party capacity - Evaluate accounting treatment of new vendor agreements and capacity commitments (COGS vs. OpEx, gross vs. net, ASC 842 embedded leases, liability vs. expense) - Partner with Data and Analytics teams to build and validate cost/utilization data pipelines that feed allocations and reporting - Contribute to technical accounting memos supporting cost of revenue and capitalization conclusions, including capitalized software amortization - Support external audits with cost schedules, vendor contract samples, allocation support, and auditor responses - Identify automation and scaling opportunities for cost accounting processes and reporting You will work closely with Infrastructure, Capital Efficiency, FP&A, Procurement, Partnerships, and Data teams to ensure compute costs are captured in the right period, classified to the right cost center, and reported in a way the business can use. Success means building a cost accounting function that is accurate, scalable, auditable, and connected to how the business operates—enabling the company to trace compute spend from vendor contracts and GPU utilization through allocation to the general ledger and gross margin, so infrastructure investment decisions are made with confidence. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - CPA or CPA candidate (preferred) - 3–6 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, including meaningful cost accounting or cost of revenue experience - Familiarity with cost allocation concepts (direct cost attribution, overhead allocation across cost centers or product lines) - Experience in cloud computing, AI infrastructure, SaaS, or usage/consumption-based business models (preferred but not required) - Experience evaluating vendor contracts and committed purchase arrangements, translating commercial terms into accounting treatment (a plus) - Comfort working with large datasets and reconciling information across multiple systems - Experience with NetSuite or major ERP system, including allocation schedules and amortization functionality (preferred) - Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; SQL or data warehouse experience (a plus) - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail - Builder mindset—comfortable creating and improving processes in fast-paced, evolving environment - Strong communication skills and ability to translate cost accounting requirements into practical guidance for non-accounting stakeholders
