San Francisco Compute is a GPU infrastructure company that operates supercomputers and leases them to customers on flexible contracts with subleasing rights. The company was founded by former leaders from Lambda, Crusoe, Digital Ocean, AWS, and Hut8, and has deployed 8GW of datacenter capacity and hundreds of thousands of GPUs across prior roles.
You will serve as the Deployment Project Manager for the Compute Deals team, owning the end-to-end execution of compute partnership contracts from signature through customer go-live. This is a cross-functional coordination role that acts as the connective tissue between the Compute Deal Lead, Engineering, and GTM teams.
Key responsibilities include:
**Cross-Functional Coordination:** Serve as the primary point of contact translating technical status into clear updates for internal stakeholders. Coordinate communication between compute providers, customers, and internal teams on deployment status and timelines. Influence technical and operational decisions across teams that don't report to you.
**Partner & Account Management:** Own internal and external partner communication for all active deployments, keeping customers, providers, and stakeholders aligned on status, timelines, and next steps. Coordinate directly with the Head of Compute Deals on contract handover to ensure deal terms and customer context transition cleanly into deployment. Flag account-level risks or opportunities early.
**Process & Reporting:** Build and maintain deployment dashboards, trackers, and standups. Run recurring reporting on deployment stages, blockers, and upcoming milestones. Drive tighter handoffs from deal teams into deployment phase.
**Deployment Ownership:** Own the integrated deployment plan for signed compute deals from contract handoff through rack-and-stack, bring-up, validation, and customer go-live. Lead multiple concurrent GPU cluster deployments at varying stages, sequencing dependencies across hardware delivery, site readiness, networking, and software bring-up. Track delivery milestones and acceptance criteria, holding timelines across all workstreams.
**BOM & Technical Validation:** Read and reconcile Bills of Materials against contracted specs, catching mismatches or substitutions. Work with Engineering to understand rack configurations, node specs, and network topology well enough to ask informed technical questions.
The role is SF-based with regular travel to deployment sites (currently Santa Clara, Wisconsin, and Minnesota) for delivery milestones and site handovers.
This is NOT a deal-sourcing, negotiation, contract-drafting, narrowly scoped procurement, or people-management role. You will not be the technical owner of bring-up; Compute Engineering sets the acceptance criteria and NPI checklist.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years in technical program or project management (ideally in data center, infrastructure, hardware, or telecom, but not required)
- Track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs over months
- Excellent cross-functional communication; equally credible with hardware engineers and commercial/deal leads
- High ownership and bias to action; comfortable escalating early rather than waiting for problems to resolve
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Fluency in GPU/compute infrastructure terminology (NVL72, HGX, DGX, InfiniBand, rack/node topology)
- Demonstrated ability to read and work with Bills of Materials; understanding of rack configurations, node specs, and networking components
- Experience with data center buildouts, colocation deployments, or large-scale GPU cluster commissioning
- Exposure to contract or deal-desk handoffs
