As a Composite CAD Design Engineer, you will drive the design, modeling, and integration of composite structures for the Nyx orbital vehicle, from concept through detailed design and industrialization. You will own composite CAD modeling using Siemens NX (with Fibersim experience highly valued), creating layup definitions, ply books, and integrating composite assemblies with metallic and non-metallic components. You will also support metallic CAD modeling to ensure compatibility across the vehicle architecture. Key responsibilities include collaborating with manufacturing and process engineers to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective; selecting appropriate composite materials (CFRP, sandwich panels) and manufacturing processes (RTM, pre-preg) based on mission environments and loads; working closely with structural and thermal analysts to iterate designs based on FEA results and test feedback; preparing technical drawings, ply books, and design documentation for design reviews and part qualification; managing configuration control and contributing to vehicle mass budgeting; and engaging in cross-functional co-engineering sessions with mission analysis, propulsion, avionics, and systems teams. The role emphasizes continuous improvement of composite design tools and best practices, strong communication, problem-solving, and a collaborative, agile mindset. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are provided. REQUIREMENTS: - Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering - Minimum 3 years' experience in composite design for aerospace or high-performance applications - Experience in design and development of metallic parts for aerospace or high-performance applications, including knowledge of relevant materials and manufacturing processes - Proficiency with Siemens NX; Fibersim or similar composite design modules preferred - Strong knowledge of aerospace vehicle design and associated challenges - Knowledge of composite materials, laminate theory, failure criteria, and manufacturing processes (RTM, pre-preg, sandwich construction) - Experience with design and verification of composite structures, including ply book creation and documentation - Fluent in English; German, French, or Italian are assets - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong analysis and problem-solving skills - Strong task organization and prioritization
