Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is seeking a Compensation Director to lead global compensation strategy for international and go-to-market (GTM) functions. The role is based in London and reports to executive leadership.
You will develop and execute global compensation strategies aligned with business objectives and talent philosophy, designing competitive programs including base pay, incentive plans, equity, and recognition frameworks. You'll lead annual compensation planning, salary review cycles, and market benchmarking across domestic and international markets using Radford benchmarks and market intelligence.
Key responsibilities include partnering with regional People Business Partners and business leaders to develop compensation strategies across EMEA, APJ, and Middle East regions. You'll assess country-specific compensation practices, labor market dynamics, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliant programs. You'll establish scalable global compensation frameworks and governance standards while balancing regional market conditions and local talent strategies.
You'll serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on global compensation strategy, international talent investments, and labor market trends. Using data-driven insights, you'll deliver recommendations to support compensation decisions and influence business decisions related to international growth and organizational expansion.
You'll ensure compensation programs comply with regulatory requirements and pay transparency legislation across all operating countries. You'll establish robust global compensation governance frameworks, policies, and controls, lead global pay equity analyses and remediation efforts, and monitor emerging regulatory developments.
The role requires deep expertise in sales incentive compensation, advanced analytical and modeling skills, and the ability to influence VP and C-suite stakeholders. You'll work across multiple regions and functional teams, including Sales and Marketing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
- 15+ years of progressive compensation experience
- Significant experience supporting Sales, Marketing, and other functional teams
- Deep expertise utilizing compensation surveys and methodologies
- Experience designing and managing global compensation programs across multiple regions
- Strong knowledge of sales incentive compensation principles and administration
- Advanced analytical, modeling, and executive presentation skills
- Experience influencing VP and C-suite stakeholders
PREFERRED:
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
- Experience in high-growth Aerospace & Defense or technology environments
- Experience with equity compensation programs
- Prior global compensation experience in publicly traded companies
- Experience with compensation technologies (Workday, Anaplan, Pave, CompAnalyst)
- MBA or Master's degree in related field
