Saronic Technologies, a leader in autonomous surface vessels for maritime defense, is seeking a Commodity Manager to oversee sourcing and procurement of materials and components within assigned commodity categories. This role is central to ensuring cost-effective and efficient supply chain operations for an advanced manufacturing company in the defense sector.
Key responsibilities include leading sourcing and procurement activities for assigned commodity groups (raw materials, components, or services), establishing and maintaining strong supplier relationships, and developing cost-saving strategies. You will negotiate prices, contracts, and terms with suppliers while maintaining quality standards. The role requires close collaboration with inventory and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels and minimize bottlenecks.
You will monitor supplier performance using KPIs, implement corrective actions when needed, and identify and manage supply chain risks including disruptions, price volatility, and supplier reliability. The position demands cross-functional collaboration with product development, engineering, operations, and finance teams to align commodity strategies with organizational goals.
Market analysis is a key component—you'll monitor commodity pricing, supply chain dynamics, and market trends to provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership. You'll ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and sustainability objectives, supporting ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility initiatives.
Regular reporting and analytics on commodity performance, supplier status, cost savings, and market conditions will be prepared for senior leadership and stakeholders.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field; 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or commodity management (preferably in manufacturing or production); strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated supplier relationship management and contract negotiation experience; in-depth knowledge of commodity markets and global sourcing strategies; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Office; ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
Preferred: Master's degree or certifications (CPSM, APICS, CPIM); experience in strategic sourcing and category management; knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement methodologies; familiarity with global supply chain logistics and trade regulations.
